It was a real pleasure to undertake Laura & Wayne’s Wickwoods Country Club wedding photography – despite dodging some pretty heavy showers!
Wickwoods itself is a private Country Club just north of Brighton, nestled in the South Downs. As it is a private club and operational during the wedding, there were some restrictions on photography such as being limited to certain areas, no photographs at the front of the building and no confetti. This may not be an issue for a lot of couples but with a distinct lack of wet weather options some photographic creativity was needed to make the most of the day!
Laura and her bridesmaids were great fun getting ready. I spent my time getting some shots of the bridal preparation while my second shooter hung out Wayne and the boys. This is one of the benefits of having two photographers. Another is the different angles and better coverage, probably best illustrated during the ceremony where we able to cover shots from the front and the back.
The food at Wickwoods is exceptional and the Wedding breakfast was first class. Luckily the rain eased up after the meal allowing us to venture outside for some bride and groom shots on the lawn. After the cake cut and first dance, the party began in earnest and I think its fair to say looking at the photos that everyone had a great time.
The conclusion of our Wickwoods Country Club photography were some sparkler shots. I’m always slightly nervous about these shots but everything worked out perfectly and I was able to get some nice shots. Then, all too soon, the day for me was over – it really flew by. Laura & Wayne are a great couple and they had a magical day for their wedding. It was a real honour to be a small part of it and capture it for them to look back on over the years ahead together.
